Minister speech

In several fields of activities Ministry of sport didnt have to start from the beginning. One of them is medicine and doping in sport, which has improved and has been upgraded with best solutions and recommendations thanks to continuous work of Sport medicine association of Serbia. This association provided throgh his work next editions: FIMS Team psysician manual, European guidelines for participation in competitive and recreative sport, Sudden cardiac death, Sport medical exam-methodology and recommendations and Registry of supplements. All this was created under support of Ministry of sport.

From another aspect Sport medicine association of Serbia had international activities every year and has been organizer of few international workshops which helped in bringing new approaches in sport sciences. Despite that fact many of our athletes, including top ones haven`t been examed under principles of European guidelines. They even don`t have answers to the basic questions about nutrition, suplementation and prevention of enjuries. I was surprised when our national team athlete who was tested positive for doping substances hasn`t never done ECG.

General motto of this congress Team psysician-missing link represents for Ministry of youth and sport invitation to all sport federations to appoint their team psysician. It is obvious that in routine work with athletes is very improptant that sport federations have a doctors in order to carry out obligatories and formalities appointed by Ministry of youth and sport.

It is my pleasure to support Third congress of Sport medicine association of Serbia especially for its main educative cause as very improtant part of Strategy of sport development in Serbia. Among other very important issues that Ministry of youth and sport have processed during past year I personally would like that team psysician become obligatory institution in every sport federation.
