Sport medicine association of Serbia has created several corses which have purpose to educate, update and improve knowledge of all who are interested no matter if are not active members of this institution.

Third congress of sport science and sport medicine will take place on Kopaonik in period 4. - 7.

December 2008. Main topic of this congress will be Team psysician-missing link. After 1. congress 2003. (126 abstracts) and second one 2005, along with the 10. congress ECSS (111 abstracts) this third congress will help in giving answers to most important questions regarding the role of team psysician in our sport associations from aspect of medicine and doping issue.

Sport Medicine Journal has been issued quaternary and publishes only articles and contributions which have never been published before. Accepted articles will be published according to schedule recommended by journal Editorial Board. Along article, written statement that sent text was never published before with signature of all coauthors also name, title and address of first author. >>

The aim of this association is:

1.Development and improvement of proffesional and science based practice in field of sport medicine and sport science.
2. Through association activities providing an adequate health care for all the athletes
3. Protection of proffesional interest as well as interest of doctors and medical stuff who are involved in sport medicine.
4. Education in field of sport medicine, publishing appropriate diplomas and licences
5. Edition of scientific and experts publications
6. Cooperation with other national sport medicine associations.

1930 - A group of physician started up an organized health control of athletes, and hygienic control of sports facilities in Belgrade, which is considered as the beginning of development of Sports Medicine in Serbia.
1936 - The first sports outpatient department was opened within the Clinic for internal medicine at the Medical Faculty in Belgrade, under the leadership of Prof. dr Vojislav Arnovljevic.
1937 - The first Serbian physician (dr Vojin Smodlaka) was sent to specialization of Sports Medicine in Center of Sports Medicine at the Academy of Physical Culture in Berlin.
1940 - At the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade, the Sports Medicine was introduced as an optional course >>

The Sports Medicine Association of Serbia was founded on July 24th, 1995 as an association of

specialists in Sport Medicine, physicians of other specialties, as well as other experts engaged in health care and improvement of physical abilities of participants in sports and recreation in the territory of the Republic of Serbia.

New constitution and new members of the Executive and Supervisory Committee have been elected on the Assembly of Sports Medicine Association of Serbia on December 22, 2006. Prof. dr Slobodan Zivanic is relected as President. >>
